Today marks the 89 anniversary of Finland's independence from Russia. Today is also my son Nicholas's nimipäivä = name's day. Happy name's day Niki!

Hauskaa Juhannusta! Happy Midsummer!

Well here it is again Midsummer in Finland. My family and I had a BBQ on the patio and then sauna later in the evening. It was cooler today than it had been the past week. We got some rain last evening so that helped to cool things down a bit. Still need to do some work in the backyard as it looks like a jungle out there. Soon will be summer holiday!

Happy Birthday Boys!

Today Niki celebrated his 11th birthday with six of his classmates from Lagstad school. He turned 11 on the 15th. Alexi also celebrated with 9 of his classmates from Lagstad. He turned 9 on the 18th.

Suomi lost to Czech Republic at the World Ice Hockey Championships in Latvia. So we have to play Canada for Bronze tomorrow. Revenge time! hehe Better luck next year boys!

Finally I have made contact with my first cousin once removed and her daughter, my second cousin, both living in Alaska. I am lacking information on this side of the family and it will not only be great to be communicating with my relatives but also great in being able to fill out the family tree a bit more!

A little milestone

Well today marked 9 years that I have been with my current employer. So far, so good!

Happy May Day to all. Today just sitting back and relaxing at home eating donuts and drinking sima. Tiina and the boys went to Helsinki and to Kaisaniemi to listen to the choir and the Humpsvakar orchestra. Niki & Alexi sold their remaining May Day flower pins.
